River Bend Wedding / Lo + Ian

As most of my nontraditional Colorado couples do, Lo and Ian planned extremely intentionally for their wedding day, down to the smallest details, but starting with choosing River Bend Lyons Colorado for their venue. For me, getting to know them has been the best part of our planning journey: they are so intimate, from words of affirmation that I could hear and feel their entire wedding day (Ian literally telling everyone that congratulated them that his purpose was to find her), down to not choosing engagement rings, and instead adding details from her granddad’s wedding ring into her’s.

Their wedding at River Bend in Lyons was chosen for a few reasons. First, it offered the laid-back, casual outdoor space with the river-hangout access for their weekend. It also offered lodging onsite in the Wee Casas (a tiny home resort onsite), meaning all of their closest family could stay onsite with them, which was heavily important. It also allowed for them to bring their own vendors, but also the ability to work with partnered vendors with the venue, for an ease of planning (like the Dj, the table rentals used often here, and the florist that literally grows their own florals down the road locally!). PS–if you’re not convinced about the silent disco, it was the most fun I’ve had at a wedding in a long time, and the guests said the same thing! It was more interactive and gave the best silly-goose energy, and everyone absolutely loved it.

I can’t really put into words what it felt like to be there. I’ll be honest, I fall in love with all my couples; we end up with a bond that feels really special, and I’d do anything for them. But watching Lo & Ian’s family and friends on their wedding day just had be sobbing throughout their ceremony; the love that surrounded them was so fucking special. You had to be there, and I felt honored to stand next to them.
